Deployed Test Pilot, Mexico

August 2018

CCell has deployed its first offshore pilot to test different components of its wave energy converter.

In August 2018, CCell successfully deployed a pilot to a test site approximately 1 mile off the Northern coast of Cozumel, Mexico.

The pilot was designed to test specific aspects of the technology as well as processes, including manufacturing and installation. The intention is to keep this pilot installed through hurricane season, when it is predicted to be subject to harsh conditions.

The device was manufactured locally in Mexico and transported to site. It was installed by two divers in less than one day (including anchoring to the seabed), using a simple dive boat. This validates CCell’s goal of an easy and rapid offshore deployment.
